Nuovo sistema di commenti di Facebook: quali implicazioni?

Abbiamo già parlato su Esperto Internet dell'importanza di capire bene la gestione della privacy su Facebook e il modo in cui cambia nel tempo. Recentemente il social network più popolare in Italia.

Il nuovo sistema di commenti annunciato da Facebook per altri siti ha implicazioni molto importanti da questo punto di vista, riassunte in un post di Lauren Weinstein che ho sintetizzato e tradotto in Italiano:

Provenendo da quel ragazzino dall’aspetto di adulto (man child nell’originale, NdT) che controlla l’impero di Facebook, una sparata del genere dovrebbe attivare un preoccupante campanello d’allarme per chiunque, ovunque, abbia a cuore la libertà di parola e i diritti civili. La visione contorta e soffocante di Zuckerberg si è recentemente concretizzata in un nuovo sistema di commenti sul Web centrato proprio su Facebook, che in sostanza permette a qualsiasi sito di delegare interamente a Facebook l’intera gestione dei commenti dei suoi lettori.

Evitare il traffico tutti insieme con Waze SocialGPS o Netlamps

C'è chi compra smartphone solo per farsi bello e chi li compra perché ci si possono fare tante cose utili a sè e agli altri. Una di queste è partecipare a disegnare insieme a tanti altri utenti le mappe di tutti i problemi alla circolazione in tempo reale. Uno dei servizi che permettono di fare questo è Waze.

Utilizzando l'apposita applicazione per smartphone, si possono mandare messaggi come questo, che poi vengono ritrasmessi anche sui propri account Facebook e Twitter.

Il risultato è una mappa sempre aggiornata di tutti i problemi di traffico in Italia segnalati dagli utenti Waze, come quella mostrata sopra, che fornisce anche dettagli (vedi immagine a lato) di ogni singolo problema.

 

Waze non è certo l'unico servizio di questo tipo. Un altro simile, sviluppato interamente in Italia, è Netlamps, che potrebbe anche far risparmiare parecchi soldini al Comune di Milano (o a qualsiasi altra città italiana che volesse offrire lo stesso servizio).

Ripesca le tue foto dai social network con GRID

Avete sparso fotografie su vari social network e non sapete più quali e dove sono? Nessun problema. Potete raggrupparle in un'unica pagina Web con il servizio GRID. Connettendosi a Facebook, Dailybooth, Instagram, Picplz, Twitpic e Yfrog dalla home page di Grid lo si indirizza a tutte le foto da voi precedentemente caricate su quei portali. A quel punto Grid costruirà un'unica galleria online di tutte quelle immagini, ordinandole cronologicamente.

Violazione privacy: attenti a Farmville e altre applicazioni Facebook!

Il Wall Street Journal ha scoperto che parte delle 550mila applicazioni di Facebook — tra cui tre delle dieci più vendute, Farmville, Texas HoldEm Poker e FrontierVille — inviano illegalmente dati personali dei loro iscritti ad agenzie pubblicitarie e società di raccolta dati internet, anche quelli relativi ad account impostati al massimo della privacy.

Sempre secondo il Wall Street Journal, "non è chiaro nemmeno se gli sviluppatori di molte di queste applicazioni che trasmettono il numero identificativo di un utente Facebook erano essi stessi consapevoli di quel che fanno i loro programmi. Come controllare lo stato della propria privacy in Facebook

Il sito Reclaim Your Privacy (Rivendica la tua Privacy) offre un sistema semplice per controllare lo stato di tutte le configurazioni relative alla privacy del proprio account Facebook, con un semplice programma il cui codice è disponibile a chiunque, per verificarne la correttezza. Il sito è in inglese, ma la procedura è molto semplice:

1. portare il cursore del mouse sul link "Scan for Privacy" e trascinarlo per memorizzarlo nella barra segnalibri del proprio browser, oppure aggiungerlo ai Preferiti.


2. Entrate in Facebook con il vostro nome utente e password come fate di solito


3. Fate clic sul bookmark creato nel punto 1

Facendo in questo modo il programma associato al bookmark analizzerà tutte le configurazioni relative alla privacy, segnalando quelle che potrebbero rendere visibili a tutti alcuni dati.

Come ci spia e fa spiare il pulsante Like di Facebook

Forse vi sarete già accorti che il pulsante "Like" cioè "mi piace" di Facebook da qualche tempo appare anche quando visitate siti che con Facebook non c'entrano nulla. Questa è una conseguenza della "personalizzazione istantanea" di Facebook e della progressiva sparizione della privacy in quel network, di cui abbiamo già parlato.

Fin qui, purtroppo, nulla di nuovo. Il motivo per cui ritorniamo su questo argomento è una "interessante" conseguenza di questo nuovo, continuo scambio di dati fra Facebook e tutti gli altri siti Web che visitiamo.

Facebook usa (e scambia) tutto quel che viene a sapere di ogni utente per mostrargli gli annunci pubblicitari a cui ha più probabilità di essere interessato. Secondo Gianroberto Casaleggio, la disseminazione del tasto Like su tutta Internet può significare che Facebook d'ora in poi userà anche qualcosa che prima non sapeva (cioè quali altri siti visitiamo) per decidere quali annunci mostrare sulla nostra pagina Facebook... non solo a noi ma a tutti i nostri amici Facebook che la visitano.

Immaginate di andare a fare un colloquio di lavoro in un'altra azienda e trovare in ufficio sulla scrivania, la mattina dopo, un depliant di un'agenzia di collocamento... lasciato in vista di tutti i colleghi da un "amico premuroso" che vuole "aiutarvi" perchè si è accorto che cercavate lavoro. Vi farebbe piacere? Utente avvisato...

Vedere con i propri occhi che fine ha fatto la propria privacy su Facebook

In questi giorni parliamo spesso di Facebook, ma... come dire? Non è colpa nostra. Stanno uscendo in rete parecchie informazioni utili su questo Social Network che tutti i suoi utenti dovrebbero conoscere, per decidere liberamente se e come farne ancora uso.

Appena potete date studiate il diagramma nella pagina sull'evoluzione della privacy in Facebook. Niente paura, è molto più facile da capire di quanto sembri, anche se è in inglese, basta sapere che:

• ogni spicchio del diagramma rappresenta una funzione o tipo di dati da voi inserito in Facebook: messaggi in bacheca (Wall posts), sesso (gender), likes (quel che avete approvato) e così via (gli altri termini dovrebbero essere facili da capire, in caso contrario chiedete lumi nei commenti).


• ogni cerchio concentrico rappresenta quali e quante persone possono vedere i vostri dati: più il cerchio è largo più persone li vedono. Al centro del cerchio ci siete voi (you) poi vengono amici (friends), membri di eventuali reti in Facebook (network), poi tutti gli utenti di Facebook e all'esterno tutta Internet

Facendo clic sulle date in alto a destra del diagramma potete vedere quanto la privacy in ogni campo è diminuita col tempo.

Per esempio nel 2005, ci dice il diagramma, solo i vostri amici (friends) potevano sapere il giorno del vostro compleanno (birthday), un'informazione che può servire fra l'altro per calcolare il vostro codice fiscale, o i dati completi del vostro profilo (a meno di non inibire o rimuovere tutto a mano ovviamente).

Facendo clic su 2010 (apr) scopriamo che oggi chiunque stia in qualunque network vede il compleanno e tutta Internet può leggere tutto quello che sta nel profilo. Idem per tutti gli altri dati.

Conclusione: se ancora si vuole stare dentro Facebook conviene ricontrollare contenuto e visibilità di tutto quel che ci avete scritto dentro e cancellare o disabilitare dove occorre (abbiamo segnalato ieri come disabilitare la Personalizzazione Istantanea). E soprattutto ripetere l'operazione ogni pochi mesi.

Studia il diagramma sull'evoluzione della privacy in Facebook (se i clic sulle date non funzionano, seguite il link "image based version subito sopra il diagramma).

Come disabilitare la personalizzazione istantanea di Facebook

Qualche settimana fa ho spiegato su un altro sito perché la funzione di personalizzazione istantanea di Facebook è l'ennesimo attacco alla privacy: in estrema sintesi, permette a qualsiasi sito "amico" di Facebook di farsi gli affari vostri.

Mentre quella spiegazione è ancora valida, i consigli che davo per disabilitare questa funzione non sono più aggiornati. Fortunatamente, un altro sito ha già pubblicato una spiegazione aggiornata, quindi vi invito caldamente a leggerla e metterla in pratica: disabilita la "Instant Personalization" di Facebook!

Con Docs.com posso o no dire addio a OpenOffice o MS Office?

Docs.com è un nuovo portale Web ancora in fase di collaudo con cui è possibile "trovare o creare documenti Microsoft Office o condividerli con i vostri contatti di Facebook".

A quanto pare da una prima, interessante recensione (vedi sotto) "siamo dunque tutti in condizione... di affermare che l’installazione di un Word Processor sul proprio PC in locale sta iniziando a smettere di avere senso" perché "fa un certo effetto avere la netta sensazione di star impiegando Microsoft Word (o Excel o PowerPoint) senza che questo sia presente sul computer".

Andrà veramente così? Vedremo. Per ora vale la pena di segnalare che:

• per avere la "netta sensazione di star impiegando Microsoft Office senza che questo sia presente sul computer" in molti casi basta... installare gratuitamente OpenOffice, di cui esistono anche versioni per bambini) e manuali per principianti


• Servizi come Docs.com funzionano, per definizione, solo quando c'è accesso a Internet veloce, stabile e a prezzo accessibile. Tutte condizioni niente affatto scontate in Italia.


• Usare servizi come Docs.com è come andare a scrivere nell'ufficio di qualcun altro e lasciare una copia di tutto sulla sua scrivania quando si torna a casa. Per scrivere la lista della spesa può anche andar bene, per documenti confidenziali, privati o professionali, il discorso cambia completamente, no?

Conclusione: provare e informarsi è bene, quindi vi invitiamo a leggere la recensione completa, ma passare a Docs o a quello che in generale viene chiamato "cloud computing" è una decisione seria che va presa con calma. Meglio aspettare e farlo solo quando è davvero necessario, non solo comodo o di moda.

Facebook a pagamento? – No, è una truffa

Ovviamente gli utenti più esperti non hanno mai creduto a queste voci e a queste iniziative, il Telegraph riporta oggi anche le dichiarazioni di un portavoce di Facebook che ancora una volta afferma che il social network è gratuito e l’azienda non ha nessuna intenzione di introdurre abbonamenti a pagamento.

Per tutti gli utenti facebook che vedono sulle bacheche dei loro amici messaggi allarmanti che portano ad iscriversi a gruppi che scongiurano il pagamento del dazio per accedere ai fatti altrui, una bellissima notizia.

Un consiglio: prima di aderire ad un gruppo, cercate di capirne le vere motivazioni e non seguite ciò che fa la massa.
